Veneers Q&A

What are veneers?

Veneers are wafer-thin coverings permanently adhered to the front-facing side of your visible teeth. Veneers are made of porcelain or composite resin, both of which have a color and translucency that matches your natural tooth enamel.

Once they’ve been bonded in place, they look just like natural teeth, making them an excellent solution for masking cosmetic defects and improving the appearance of your smile.

What conditions can veneers treat?

Veneers mask the entire front of the tooth on which they’re placed, effectively covering up any aesthetic defects. THE DENTAL BOUTIQUE uses veneers to improve patients’ smiles that have:

  • Cracks, chips, or fractures
  • Teeth that have been significantly worn down
  • Staining that’s been unresponsive to professional whitening treatments
  • Teeth that are crooked or misshapen
  • Wide or uneven spaces between teeth

Compared to other restorative solutions, like crowns, bridges, or dental implants, the procedure to place veneers is minimally invasive. This makes them a popular option for patients who want to improve their smiles with a method that’s quick and easy.

What can I expect during veneer placement?

Dr. Cabanzon begins by removing a very small amount of tooth enamel to create enough space for the veneer to lay flat against the front of your tooth. He then takes molds of your teeth and sends them off to a lab to be created.

If you’re getting composite resin veneers, Dr. Cabanzon can often perform the procedure in one appointment because he applies the material directly to your teeth.

However, if you’re getting porcelain veneers, you may need to return for a second appointment. Dr. Cabanzon may fit you with temporary veneers that you can wear until your permanent ones are ready.

Once your veneers have been created, you return to THE DENTAL BOUTIQUE, and Dr. Cabanzon bonds them to your teeth and gives you aftercare instructions.
